Fudge Krispies

Photo is courtesy of the Kellogg's website. Recipe can be found here.

I've been posting old family favorites, many of which I have not made in years, but I wanted to preserve here. This simple recipe is a nice alternative to the traditional Rice Krispie Bar. This version was one of my son's favorites.

1 (12-oz) package milk chocolate chips

1/2 cup butter
1/2 cup light corn syrup
2 tsp vanilla extract
1 cup powdered sugar
4 cups Rice Krispies cereal

In a large saucepan or skillet. over low heat, melt together the chocolate chips, butter, and corn syrup until everything has melted and is smooth. Remove from heat and stir in the vanilla, and powdered sugar until well mixed. Stir in the Rice Krispies cereal and mix thoroughly. Spread in a buttered 9x13" pan. Let cool and set before cutting into bars.
